Last week OJM went to the Upper East Side to chat with Eli Zabar at E.A.T. He opened up to us about the origin of the double collar, the best breads for sopping up egg yolk, his relationship with Woody Allen and why women in Europe tend to smell better than local broads.
Halfway through the conversation one of Eli’s friends stopped by, the New York Times style writer, Alex Vadukul, who wrote a piece about Eli in November. Vadukul, high on bottomless cups of free black coffee, pressed Zabar on his previous failures, and more importantly: the state of the modern bagel.
